Through collage, Kiara Jade pieces together historical transgressions against the Black people using research, maps, and imagery from the Tulsa Race Massacre, Emmitt Till, and the Tuskegee Airmen, to engage in conversations around redlining, segregation, and food deserted communities on the Southside of the city. From June 1, 1921 to June 1, 2020, Kiara Jade discovered that history repeats itself, documenting scenes she only had seen in history books or documentaries.
Through this series, she questions how we can [as a whole community] produce stories that inspire others to end the cycle of historical trauma? And asks, what does healing look like for you? What does healing look like for us as one?
