About this exhibit
The Calling in the Ancestors: Healing our Hearts exhibit is the culmination of a two-year journey of art, storytelling and healing justice. For two years, Black and Latina women gathered in Chicago’s West and South Sides to share their life histories of healing and resilience as residents of Chicago. We learned how to use somatic movement, meditation, sound healing, herbalism, writing and art making as tools for growth and for healing from personal, intergenerational and community trauma. We ask that you join us to witness the brilliance of Black and Brown women who are reclaiming their ancestral right to a life full of joy, happiness and health.
This is the culmination of Plugs and Connections a multi-organization, inter-neighborhood project that is part of the Together We Heal initiative funded by DCASE. We thank Crossroads Fund for additional support for our community work.
